Your life is art.
Our memories of moments past is the glue that binds us through the generations. When we return to those moments, whether in the form of a conversation, or an album, or a box of family photos, or framed prints, or images filed on the computer, it’s like seeing an old friend with the emotions rushing through us again. We can’t help but smile or even cry. This is what I love about photography, and photojournalism in particular. The ability to encapsulate a fleeting moment in time, share a little piece of myself, and gift it back to the viewer. It is one of the most important things I did as a staff photojournalist for newspapers and what I currently do during portrait sessions and events.
I cannot imagine doing anything else in my life creatively. My photography follows me around, taps me on the shoulder, and guides me into the lives of some of the most amazing people I have ever met. I never leave a session or event without taking a little piece of it with me and leaving a little piece of me to share.
I would never be the person I am today without the many moments in life I’ve been so honored to witness.
